Terms of Service for WhisperShortcut

Last updated: July 31, 2026

Overview

WhisperShortcut is a macOS menu bar application for dictation, voice editing, AI chat, text-to-speech, live meeting transcription, and related productivity workflows. You may optionally connect your Google account so the app can work with Google Calendar, Google Tasks, and Gmail (read-only), and you may optionally connect Trello so the app can work with boards, lists, and cards when you use supported chat features. You may also share folders with the chat so it can read and search files inside them. By using WhisperShortcut, you agree to these terms.

Use of the App

  • You may use WhisperShortcut in accordance with its documentation and in compliance with applicable laws.
  • When using cloud features, you are also subject to the respective provider's terms, including Google Gemini, Google APIs, OpenAI, xAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter (and the upstream model provider it routes to), Trello/Atlassian, and any self-hosted or local endpoint provider where applicable (e.g. Google Terms of Service, Google API Terms).
  • You are responsible for securing your API keys, endpoint credentials, and connected accounts; do not share them with others.
  • You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated output before relying on it, sharing it, or using it in important workflows.
  • You are responsible for reviewing actions that modify connected services, including calendar events, tasks, Trello cards, and any content sent to or returned from third-party providers.

API Keys

Cloud features require API keys that you provide. Gemini-powered features use your Google Gemini API key. OpenAI Transcribe, OpenAI Dictate Prompt, and OpenAI chat models use your OpenAI API key. Grok Speech-to-Text, Dictate Prompt, Read Aloud, and chat models use your xAI API key when selected. Anthropic Claude chat models use your Anthropic API key when selected. OpenRouter Speech-to-Text uses your OpenRouter API key and the model slug you configure when selected. You are responsible for your API keys and any usage costs billed by the relevant provider. WhisperShortcut does not process payments or store payment information. If you configure a self-hosted transcription endpoint, you are responsible for operating that endpoint and for its data handling, security, logs, and availability.

Google account — Calendar, Tasks, and Gmail (optional)

If you authorize the connection, WhisperShortcut may access the Google services and actions allowed by the OAuth scopes you approve, which may include: reading and creating Google Calendar events; reading, creating, completing, and deleting Google Tasks in your task lists; and read-only access to Gmail (e.g. search and read message content) so Gemini can use it when you request it. You are responsible for reviewing data the app displays or changes—especially calendar events, tasks, and email content—and for compliance with Google Calendar, Google Tasks, Gmail, and Google API terms.

You may disconnect at any time in the app Settings (Google connection) or by sending the /disconnect-googlecommand in the in-app chat. Disconnecting revokes the app's use of these Google APIs for Calendar, Tasks, and Gmail. You may also revoke access in your Google Account settings.

Trello boards, lists, and cards (optional)

If you connect Trello, WhisperShortcut may access boards, lists, and cards allowed by the Trello token you grant. Supported actions include listing boards/lists/cards, creating cards, updating card name, description, or due date, moving cards between lists, and archiving cards when you ask. You are responsible for reviewing Trello changes and for complying with Atlassian/Trello terms.

You may disconnect Trello at any time in app Settings or by sending the /disconnect-trello command in the in-app chat. You may also revoke the token in Trello/Atlassian account settings.

Workspace folders shared with chat (optional)

You may share folders with the in-app chat in Settings, with the /folder command, or by dropping a folder onto the chat window. The chat can then list, read, and search files inside those folders; it cannot create, modify, or delete them, and it cannot reach paths outside the folders you shared. File content the chat reads for your request may be sent to the AI provider you selected. Only share folders whose content you are allowed to send to that provider, and remove a folder at any time in Settings.

Limitations

  • WhisperShortcut is provided "as is." We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or third-party services.
  • Third-party services may change availability, pricing, models, scopes, or terms independently of WhisperShortcut.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes will be noted in the repository.

Dispute resolution
